Unit 469 History

Contained within the above links are reports about the origins of ACBL Unit 469. Today, the combination of the Kona Bridge / Waikoloa Bridge Club / Hilo Bridge Club has approximately 150 players, some of who are winter season visitors to the Big Island. This is a growth from 3 players who originally met at the Hale Halewai in 1969 and later formulated ACBL Unit 469.

Unit 469 Timeline:

1969: Bridge game organized by Charles Watson meets at Hale Halewai

1974: Unit 469 formed

1978: First Unit sectional held at Hale Halewai

KBC moved to Kona Outdoor Circle

Unit 469 Sectional held at King Kamehameha Hotel

1986: Waikoloa Club Formed

2000:` KBC plans to build The Bridge Building on the Hualalai Academy campus

2003: KBC moves into The Bridge Building

2003: Unit 469 Sectional held at The Bridge Building
